Our Communications Committee

The Communications Committee is responsible for building Broward County DSA's public voice, visual identity, and internal communications infrastructure. We create content that helps organize members, educate the public, promote campaigns, and strengthen our chapter.

Whether you're a graphic designer, writer, photographer, video editor, organizer, or simply interested in learning communications skills, there's a place for you on the team.

Learn more about becoming a Communications Organizer and building socialist communications capacity.

Committee leadership will establish a recurring training schedule to strengthen our organizing skills and deepen our communications strategy. All members are welcome to attend. Training sign-ups will be posted on the Chapter Event Calendar as they are scheduled.

  • Media Training: Broward County Comms Training (slides from National DSA): Learn how to represent Broward DSA in interviews, media appearances, and public communications with clear, effective messaging.

  • How to Speak About Socialism to Non-Socialists (slides from National DSA): Learn practical strategies for explaining socialism, addressing common misconceptions, and having productive political conversations.

  • How to Write an Effective Email (slides from National DSA): Learn how to write clear, concise, and action-oriented emails for organizing, outreach, and internal coordination. This training covers structure, tone, subject lines, and how to make sure your message gets read and responded to.

  • How to Write a Good Text (slides from National DSA): Learn how to write effective peer-to-peer texts for organizing and mobilization. This includes keeping messages short and clear, using accessible language, making strong asks, and improving response rates for outreach and turnout.

Broward County DSA members advocate for socialism by striving to be positive influences on each other and seeking opportunities to improve their community. We rally against racism, sexism, war, pollution, disinformation, corruption, corporate greed, gun violence, imperialism, child labor, and fear-mongering. We rally in support of the working class. One would think this would gain us nothing but friends, but sadly in Florida our small group has made some very vocal enemies who relish any opportunity to denounce us. Surely this is because they don’t understand what we stand for, or is it something else?
